If you need quality sound without having to rely on wax-covered earphones, uncomfortable white buds or plastic-y cups, you can't go wrong with a pair of Sony's MDR 7506's. They've been a rugged standby of pros for nearly a decade, and with good reason. Weighing in at 8.1 ounces, the fully-adjustable 7506s are still comfortable after long hours of audio recording, band practice, music listening or marathon sessions of 'Battlestar Galactica.' The 7506s don't have huge, thumping bass or exaggerated highs; instead, they provide a consistent, balanced listening experience that's renowned for its accurate sound reproduction. The closed design does a respectable job of blocking outside noise, and they fold up for easy transport. They're not super stylish or backed by Dre, but they'll give you years of wear for under $90.
